HAPPY VALLEY EARLY DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
HAPPY VALLEY - BLACKHEATH

With the massive lack of schooling facilities in the Western Cape, we saw the opportunity to assist and reach out to help these children.
We were offered the opportunity to apply for a centre in Happy Valley, which was built for the sole purpose of a Grade R class and aftercare.
Mr. Brendan van der Merwe from Blackheath District Community Forum brought this opportunity to our attention, he works very closely with Sing For Africa and has helped tremendously with the preparation for the Happy Valley Centre.

We started with our Grade R class on the 1st of March 2011. We had so many parents approaching us with the request to let their child/children attend the school ,we wish we could accept more children and give them the same opportunity that other children are experiencing at present,but the Department of Education only allows a certain amount of children in accordance to their rules.

Many parents do not get the opportunity to send their children to school, due to the financial situation most of them are struggling with at the moment.

We have succeeded in lowering school fees , making it affordable for those parents who are able and willing to help their children get an education and better life for themselves.

We are mostly dependent on donations to keep this school up and running, and send out an urgent request to bussinesses and individuals to assist us with any materials and items needed for the daily running of the Grade R class. We are also in need of daily food items, many children are in need of the right supplemented variations of food, parents cannot always afford to send them to school with a lunchbox, something our children often take for granted.

We recently received a wonderful donation from PIC Solutions, they were so generous by supplying us with the neccesary office equipment for the school, we are truly very thankful to their offices in Cape Town as well as in Johannesburg.

We will appreciate any donations with regard to the children as well as the school itself.

We look forward to creating more opportunities and facilities to accompany children all over to give them the chance to also have an education, which they deserve.
